Full Disclosure: I paid for this meal with my own money and I was in no way reimbursed for this blog post. The opinions are completely my own.
One of the places that we had plans to go to while I was in New York visiting Heather and Julie (and all of the other CDNYers) was The Whistling Kettle. Heather and Julie had both been here before, and ever since I saw them post about the experience that they had there, I knew I wanted to go.
Katie joined us as well. She is such a sweetheart!
This place was so much fun. We went around lunch time, so some people ate, but I was still pretty full from the Lincoln Pancakes that we had for breakfast so I only had tea. I was tempted to have the Lobster Bisque that I heard was delicious, but I resisted. I had some Lemon Ginger Black tea and it was really good!
The Whistling Kettle is a tea house. They have HUNDREDS of different kinds of tea. It is like a tea lovers heaven. And not only can you drink the tea while you are there but you can buy it to make at home! It took a lot for me to not buy one of everything to take home with me. Luckily they have an online store, so I can buy some online and not worry about having space in my suitcase! (They have cute mugs and teapots too!)
This is a small slice of their “Sniffing Bar” where you can smell all of the different types of teas before you buy them.
Although there is not a lot of seating in this small cozy place, people are willing to wait – and I now see why. The food looked delicious, (and from what I heard it was delicious) the tea was delicious – and with so many varieties, it would definitely be worth going back to try them! The service was great, and the prices were pretty good as well.
Taste: A, delish. Now I’m wishing I would have tried some of that soup because I am craving it after writing this review!
Cost: A, reasonably priced considering that it is a small locally owned business with excellent service.
Would I go there again? Definitely. I wish there was somewhere in Madison that is similar to this. Maybe there is and I’m not aware of it?
Dear Whistling Kettle,
If you would like to open a second location (half way across the country) I have the perfect spot! Hilldale Mall would be a perfect fit for you – and they just happen to have many open spots right now! Madison would love you.
Signed, Kelly (And all of the other Madison area Tea Drinkers.)
